Laura Szromba was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles. From a young age, her parents always encouraged creativity. Her mother is a hobbyist photographer and her father was a carpenter and contractor before becoming a software developer. Laura grew up seeing old drawings that her parents did when they were younger, inspiring her interest in drawing. She also spent time with her father in the garage while he was working on various projects. Laura’s creativity especially came out when she got her hands on craft supplies and made things like characters and clothes for stuffed animals. This craftiness has evolved into jewelry making, which she sells on her Etsy shop.
In school, Laura always enjoyed art classes and continued taking them in college. Her first graphic design class was in 11th grade, and that was when she knew that was the field she wanted to go into. As a front desk receptionist for her first job, she also got to design flyers and logos for the company, which she really enjoyed. Now she works for a company that fabricates privacy screens for hospitals, and she likes that it reminds her of working with her dad in the garage when she was younger.
Currently, Laura is a student at California State University Northridge, earning her degree in communication design. Her favorite class is graphic design, so she wants a career that involves designing and creating advertisements one day. When she isn’t at school or work, Laura enjoys playing the guitar, hanging out with her friends, and riding her motorcycle.
